INTRA
The INTRA Self
The INTRA self is the next layer of the self. It steps outside of the INNER self and is comprised of a person’s relationships. This is family, friends, coworkers, etc. as others can play a large role influencing the self. Jean Paul Sarte described the self as being shaped by others and actions. Carl Jung depicted the self as the masks that we wear around others depending on the context. Who we spend time with influences who we are. That is what the INTRA self is, our relational influences.
TRUE SELF
ALGORITHMIC SELF
True Self vs Algorthimic Self
Above are two scrolling collections of images. The first set is my True INTRA Self. Each photo is a headshot that I have personally taken of someone that has had influence in my life in the last several years. Each portrait is unique as each individual is unlike any other. Each have had a significant and unique impact on who I am today. The second set is how the algorithm sees the INTRA self. It does not see unique qualities of individuals, instead the algorithm seeks to homogenize the collective so that it can easily interchange any cog that it needs to. This set is a collection of AI generated images. They do not have unique qualities and lack the depth and personal relationship that the True Self has. They have no name, they are merely users meant to be used.
