The SUPRA Self

The SUPRA self is the final layer of the whole self. Stepping outside the INTRA self, we arrive in ambiguous territory of the beyond. This is the layer of self that is determined by your relationship with the divine and beyond yourself and others. Whether it is deeper thinking such as philosophy or your belief in a higher power, the SUPRA self is defined as everything outside of INNER and INTRA. It impacts how we think about ourself and interact with others. Our belief in G-d or lack thereof influences how we perceive the self deeply.

TRUE SELF

My own personal relationship with the divine has been one of growth and evolution. It has not been a linear path and has been anything but black and white. I am incredibly grateful for this journey of faith. It has been and continues to be a process, breaking down and rebuilding constantly. Yet that is the key, it is constant. My belief in G-d has shaped much of who I am today, and it is because of this beautiful gradient that knows know end. My understanding is minuscule but my curiosity is boundless.

I created this gradient to represent my own journey. I utilized the color palette of a heat map to symbolize both changes of intensity as well as a process of moving from the inside out. My relationship with G-d has evolved over the years and is an integral pillar of my own view of self. I am thankful for the lovely space between the black and white filled with color.

ALGORITHMIC SELF

The algorithm would love for you to believe that it also deals in shades of gray. While we see in social media and the internet at large that it seems as though the algorithm pushes for a gradient view of the SUPRA self as opposed to a more binary system, this is merely a disguise. Underneath this mask of gradient, you will find there are lines that separate you. It is a false gradient, and instead merely a grid of like minded cogs. It seeks to place you in an echo chamber and segregate you from differing ideas.

That is what this piece represents. A false gradient that is actually solid colors forming a grid. These lines that separate are the same ones that segregate and keep you from expanding your view. What is presented as gray is actually another form of the binary system the algorithm seeks to keep you in.

Awareness and education is half the battle, but without an attack plan knowledge is useless. You have realized how the algorithm is influencing you, but how can you fight back?
